So did you survive the holidaze?

We had a pleasant time of it, visiting with mom in the convalescent home. We exchanged gifts and ate some. The nurses and staff performed a chorus of holiday music which everyone enjoyed. My daughter and SIL brought the grandchildren and that lifted everyone's spirits...a two year old just enjoys the whole world as long as there are toys to be played with and gifts to open; and a 3 month old enjoys the world as long as that bottle is coming her way! Mom's spirits are good. She will stay for a while as she gets stronger and heals. The Florida trip has been canceled, but I will be enjoying time here with friends. Today I go to the Poconos for an overnight trip with my son. I have a friend who rents a house up there and every year I go up to enjoy the ambiance. I used to ski, but the knee is still talking to me and saying stuff I can't write here for fear of offending someone. That's OK, however. There is much to do up there and the sights...with the deer and the snow...suits my spiritual nature, so I'm happy. Looking forward to reading your entries this coming week. I know I am behind, but I also know that all of you good people understand my absence. Be well, take care...

Karen, how wonderful that everything worked out at the home where your mom is. How is her hand? I hope she doing better. It is important to have a little relaxation to keep your spirits up.
Did anyone ever tell you in that Thanksgiving picture you and ,mom look so much alike. Take care and keep us posted. Lucy

It's great that you got to spend time with your mom during Christmas. I know little kids brighten up the world they are surrounded by, so that was great for all also. Enjoy your little trip.

Karen, I aM SO GLAD THAT SHE, YOUR MOM WON'T HAVE TO STAY IN THE home. I have not seen a really good one yet. Upscale or whatever, it is still a nursing home. Have fun but careful of that knee. Lucy

Hi Karen. I'm so far behind on reading that I think I'm ahead. Anyway, just wanted to stop in and say happy new year. I think it will just take some time for your knee to heal properly so give it time and maybe you can ski again :)....

My holidays were rough as my husband John was sick a lot of the time. So we didn't celebrate Christmas on Christmas, LOL. New Year's Eve was good, however. John and I went to my parents and had crab legs, fries, and salad. We also got makings for non-alcoholic drinks: virgin mary and pina colada! We actually haven't drank that yet, b/c we didn't have time, john fell asleep, LOL. Oh, we'll have to do that tonight with a movie! Anyway, the crab and shrimp feast was spectacular on New Year's Eve. We went to my parent's house with crabs and shrimp, cooked them up, and treated my parents. Haven't had that much fun in years. My parents are 76 and 80. they are a joy to be around.

By the way, I'm really enjoying your blog!
