What a crazy day, yesterday

The weather was nuts yesterday.  It started out so cold I had to wear layers of clothing and a jacket.  A few hours later, the jacket came off and the layers were peeled.  By the mid-afternoon I was wearing shorts and a tee shirt.  If it didn't happen to me, I wouldn't have believed it.

I love the sun and warm weather, and so does my body!  Full of energy and life I take Sheba for a long walk around the neighborhood.  The neighborhood in this area is not typical of what I know in Pennsylvania.  Bedford, NY is considered horse country as many of the homes have zillions of acres.  Some are for horse breeding, but others are just rolling hills.  The houses on my street have to have a lot size that is at least an acre, most being 3 or 4 acres.  That's a lot of property, mostly wooded and undeveloped.  Consequently, when I go walking I am really hiking.   It felt good, and the arthritis did not flare up until the last stretch of a one hour walk.

That was yesterday.  Today, it is raining.  A good day for shopping and book reading.  I am reading Homer Hickam's, October Sky.  The story is set in the mid to late 1950s in a small coal mining town in West Virginia. It is the life of a boy who is fascinated with outer space, rockets, and girls.  I just love a good story and poetic prose.  Toni Morrison writes poetic prose, and so do a few others whose names I can not recall.

What good books have you read lately?

I've just finished a book called The Blasphemer by Nigel Farndale, a cracking story about a present-day man and his WW1 Great Grandfather. I was very sorry to come to the end and really recommend it.
Isn't Toni Morrison the woman who writes a lot of lesbian oriented stuff?

Btw, sorry to read about your evil arthritis. I have it sometimes in my knees and fingers but after a flare up it usually goes away for a few weeks - it must be very disheartening to suffer constantly.

I have my theoritical fingers in so many books at the same time I couldn't answer.

Reading is one of life's greatest pleasures. One is never alone with a good book in hand.
