Life

In a sermon, I heard, "Life sucks". The clergy apologized for using harsh words, but said it was the perfect word for the description of life. The deal is...knowing this...make the best of it, in whatever manner you choose. I liked that. The acceptance of life being difficult, and the permission to do whatever one needs to do to make it work. I am being challenged by life these past few months. Wish me luck with making the best of it. Until then, that's how I see it. Karen

Good luck Karen. One of my favorite sayings is: you could be happy being an observer of your own life, if you could only find a safe place to stand. D

wishing you the very best in this hard time. It seems we all get there at sometime or other. We just have to do the best we can with what we have to work with. Have been missing your post but I know your time is limited right now.

That's interesting Karen. I believe you can change a lot of things in your life. But what you can't change, you must have acceptance of. So true.

That's one thing that we are often not told as Christians -- that there are some things that we can't change, and that we merely have to life with. As a matter of fact, we're often taught the opposite.

Well meaning Christian friends sometimes tell us we'll never have to suffer, and and that if we say some magic words or repeat some Bible verses (which happen to be out of context, by the way), suffering will go away. Jesus told us that throughout life we would have crosses at different times. He said, "Take up your cross and follow Me." We are to unite our crosses with His cross. On the other hand, He also said, "...For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." So we know in our suffering, when united with His suffering, and to Him, we can be at peace no matter what. Because even when we are going through great trials, (which He allows at times, so, amongst other reasons, we may grow and become purified and become closer to Him) -- yes, even when we are going through trials, we have the peace that passes all understanding, because He will take care of us richly, and lead us to eternal life. For nobody can give us life more richly than He, and nobody can snatch us from the palm of His hand.

Okay, that's the end of my sermon! May you be in perfect peace, because of the One who loves you eternally. God bless and take care, Karen.

These are wonderful words to live by. Thanks for taking time to express them here.

When I get like this, depressed and lonely because life is throwing punches too often and too hard, I retreat to the spiritual side of me and get strength.

The words of blogger friends help me get there. Thank you!
